The range of your wireless connection can vary significantly based on where you locate your Sky Router in your home. You should not need to change it. If you do need to change this the options are: Auto - Set the mode to Auto for the b/g/n widest compatibility. 802.11n only - Set the mode to 802.11n only if you are having difficulty connecting a device to your Sky Router.

This will mean you are connecting to 802.11n devices only. 802.11n+g Performance - Set the mode to 802.11n+g Performance for the fastest performance among 802.11n+g certified equipment.

For increased security, you can restrict access to the wireless network to only allow specific PCs based on their 'MAC' addresses. To do this, click the Setup Access List link to display the Wireless Station Access List menu. Security Options Sky has set a default security setting to prevent unauthorised access to your Sky Router. This is specific to your Sky Router and is not a generic password.
If you wish to change your security settings select the desired option, and ensure all your connecting devices (PC's) have the same setting: Disable - This will disable the security function. Data will not be encrypted before transmission.
Home Security Systems
Sky DO NOT recommend this setting. WEP - WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy), if used, encrypts data before transmission. All connecting devices (PC's) need to use the same settings (WEP Key size and WEP key). Level of security should use this as a minimum. WPA-PSK - This version of WPA uses a PSK (Pre-shared Key) for authentication.
Follow these steps first
All connecting devices need to use the same PSK (Pre-shared Key). WPA is more secure than WEP, and should be used if possible. WPA2-PSK - WPA2 is an improvement on the WPA-PSK standard. With this Only users with password can access your network, and WPA2-PSK improves on WPA standard by encrypting the signal at a higher bitrate by using secure AES-based algorithm. WPA-802.1x - This version of WPA requires the use of a Radius server for authentication. Each user (Wireless Client) must have a "user" login on the Radius Server.
Data transmissions are encrypted using a key which is automatically generated. The value must be identical on all PCs and Access Points in your network. You should make a note and keep the key safe to make it easier to connect all your devices.

Automatic Key Generation (Passphrase) Enter a word or group of printable characters in the Passphrase box and click the Generate button to automatically configure the WEP Key. If encryption strength is set to 128 bit, then the key box will automatically be populated with 26 hex digits key value.
If encryption strength is set to 64 bit, then the key box will automatically be populated with 10 hex digits key value. Manual Entry Mode Enter the WEP key information for your network in the selected key box. For 64 bit WEP - Enter ten hexadecimal digits (any combination of 0-9, A-F).

You should enter this PIN if requested by a device you are connecting to your Sky broadband wireless home network. This PIN also appears on the label on your Sky Router. To Apply or Cancel Changes Click Apply to have your changes take effect. Click Cancel to return to the previous unsaved settings.
